One of the rare features of the Zimbabwe cricket team currently touring Sri Lanka is that it comprises three sets of brothers and two cousins forming a unique combination in international cricket.

In fact three sets of brothers played for the first time-ever in a Test match when the Flowers (Andy and Grant), Rennies (Gavin and John) and Strangs (Bryan and Paul) represented Zimbabwe against New Zealand in the first Test at Harare in September last year.

The occasion became a unique one and a family affair when cousins Andy Whittall and Guy Whittall joined the three sets of brothers in a one-day international against New Zealand at Harare in October.

The only three players who were without a family connection in the eleven, were skipper Alistair Campbell, David Houghton and Craig Evans.

With John Rennie expected to join the team on January 17 for the one-day series, a repetition of this unique combination may take place in Sri Lanka.
