Date-stamped : 19 May97 - 06:16 Warwickshire v Yorkshire Warwickshire (186-6) beat Yorks (185) by 3 wickets THE spectre of Allan Donald again loomed over Yorkshire at Edgbaston yesterday. Not quite on the scale of 1995 when he took six for 15 in their dismissal for 56, but sufficient to influence the northern county`s first Sunday defeat of the season, by four wickets, writes Mike Beddow. In completing overall figures of 10 for 47 from successive League meetings, Donald twice prevented a Yorkshire breakout towards something more substantial. In his first spell, a leading edge to mid-off clipped Darren Lehmann`s three-figure average from two Sunday innings, and in his second, Bradley Parker was denied a first fifty in the competition. The highest partnership of 38 was embellished only by Peter Hartley`s achievement in becoming the fourth Yorkshire player to make 1,000 runs and take 100 wickets in the league. For Warwickshire, Dougie Brown again batted boisterously, and their task would have been simple but for the loss of Dominic Ostler and Trevor Penney within six balls from Richard Stemp. This reawakened a sterile contest and gave Ashley Giles the opportunity to settle the result with 14 balls to spare by driving Darren Gough for successive boundaries.
