Date-stamped : 30 Jun97 - 06:19 YORKSHIRE retained an interest in the Sunday League title af- ter easing past Middlesex`s inadequate total of 173 with six wickets and 4.1 overs remaining at Headingley. Middlesex have not faired well on the sabbath, especially outside headquarters, and can claim only one victory in Yorkshire since the league was conceived. Jason Pooley, with 61 off 68 balls in a partnership worth 91 with Paul Weekes (53 not out), injected a degree of urgency for Middle- sex. When Richard Johnson yorked anchorman Craig White for 41, and He- witt beat Bradley Parker`s defence, a frisson of doubt arose for York- shire, quickly dispelled by Anthony Mc- Grath (38 not out) and Richard Blakey (26 not out), who passed 4,000 Sunday runs.
