Central Districts v Northern Districts (Shell Trophy) The Christchurch Press - 27 February - 2 March 1999 Day 2 Report In Wanganui, a big partnership between Craig Spearman and Mathew Sinclair steered Central Districts into a strong position against Northern Districts at Victoria Park yesterday. They shared an unbroken second wicket stand of 203 runs as Central Districts finished the day at 218 for one in reply to Northern Districts' first innings of 286. Spearman will resume today on 116 and Sinclair on 77. Northern Districts started yesterday at 183 for four, and Grant Bradburn, who was on 24 overnight, finished with a patient 58. Despite the early loss of Campbell Furlong, Spearman and Sinclair batted in a positive manner. Each batsman reached his 50 off 78 balls, and captain Spearman raised his 100 off 128 deliveries. Central Districts coach Dipak Patel said the day was one ``you dream about''. Spearman and Sinclair provided good and sensible batting, ``building a solid foundation'' from which Central Districts could kick on.
