Wellington v Central Districts (Shell Trophy) The Christchurch Press - 5-8 March 1999 Day 1: Larsen close to second ton Gavin Larsen was as surprised as anyone when he was poised six runs short of his second century in first-class cricket after the first day of Wellington's Shell Trophy match against Central Districts at the Basin Reserve. Larsen's medium-pace bowling took a back seat yesterday as he hit 15 boundaries in an unbeaten 94 in 188 minutes, which was a key hand in Wellington's batting revival from 128 for six in its first innings after winning the toss. When bad light ended play Wellington was 288 for seven.
