Day 2: Discarded Aamir slams 180

LAHORE, Feb 17: A hurricane century by Test discard Aamir Sohail helped Lahore City gain a commanding 436-run lead against Hyderabad on the second day of their Quaid-i-Azam Cricket Trophy Grade-I match at the Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday.

Replying to Hyderabad's paltry first innings total of 81, Lahore City resumed the first innings at 172 for one, with the overnight batsmen Aamir Sohail (90) and Ali Hussain (48) at the crease. The home team managed to score a formidable of 517 for nine in 132 overs, before declaring the innings.

Hyderabad will start their second innings on Thursday with a daunting mission to avoid a massive defeat.

Aamir Sohail slammed 29 fours and one six during his magnificent 211-ball innings in a stay of just 220 minutes.

Ali Hussain made 79 with nine fours. His second wicket stand with the discarded Test star produced 230 runs in 220 minutes.

Later, two useful partnerships from the lower order further compounded Hyderabad's plight. Kamran Akmal (59 with 10 fours an one six) and Mohammad Umar (27) added 77 runs in 60 minutes for the fifth wicket.

The left-handed Naeem Ashraf (77 with 10 fours) and Zaheer Khan (21) put on 80 for the seventh wicket in 81 minutes.
