LAHORE, March 13: Deadly bowling by paceman Navid-ul-Hasan who captured five wickets for 82, brought Lahore Division back in the Quaid-i-Azam Cricket Tournament Grade II final against Multan Division on the penultimate day at the Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.

Lahore Division which conceded 50-run lead, managed to bowl out Multan Division in second innings for paltry total of 205, due to hostile bowling of Navid-ul-Hasan and got a gettable winning target of 256 in the remaining one day and 29 overs play. Navid-ul-Hasan who had taken six wickets in the first innings for 93, made the match-haul of 11 for 175.

By close of the day, Lahore Division were 64 for three in second innings and still needing 192-run to win.

Opener Qaisar Abbas (39, six fours) and Muhammad Salim (nine, two fours) will resume the Lahore Division second innings on Sunday morning. Opener Hafiz Shahid (5), skipper Maqsood Raza (2) and Majid Majeed (7) batted recklessly to loss wickets cheaply at crucial stages.

Pacemen Arshad Hayat and Haroon Rashid picked two and one wicket for eight and 11 runs, respectively.

Multan Division resumed second innings in the morning at 18 without loss but could not cash the advantage of 50-run lead as slumped for 205 in 66.1 overs. Had Arshad Hayat who batted at eighth position not contributed 85 runs and the ninth man Muhammad Arif (19) not supported him, the Multan Division innings would have been folded more cheaply. Hayat cracked 11 boundaries and two sixes.

Hayat and Arif plundered valuable 67 runs in their eighth wicket association which lasted for 77 minutes. They join hands when the Multan had lost seven wickets for 91 runs. Hayat also received good support from 10th man Muhammad Rafique (seven not out) to add useful 46 runs in their 39 minutes long ninth wicket stand.

Earlier, the century-maker of first innings Saeed Anwar Junior was clean bowled for 31 after resuming at one. He cracked four fours.

Besides, Navid-ul-Hasan paceman Kashif Raza earned three wickets for 78.
