The Vaux Ribblesdale League Championship looks set to go all the way to the last match of the season with just six points between Padiham, Ribblesdale Wanderers and Clitheroe in third place.

Padiham slipped up, falling to defeat by Barnoldswick despite a fighting 47 from professional Mark Harvey.

Ribblesdale Wanderers took advantage with a 10 wicket victory over Baxenden. Shahid Nawaz led the way with 72 helped by Robert Palmer's 53.

Clitheroe also continued their recent return to form with a seven wicket win over Whalley.

Professional Jonathan Fielding had a superb day taking 5-65, reaching 100 wickets for the season, and scoring 62 not out with the bat.

Great Harwood fell to defeat by Read as Kashif Ibrahim took 5-37 and Malcolm Heyworth top scored on 25 not out. Harwood professional Charles Dagnall took five wickets for 54, but Read secured a comfortable seven points.

Cherry Tree took the honours with a seven wicket victory over Settle, Gary Bolton scoring 46 not out. The Dales side hung on in the first innings with nine wickets down as Naeem Ashraf took 5-52.

Edenfield beat Oswaldtwistle in a high scoring game. John Ashley scored 114 backed up by Andy Wright 70 as Edenfield set a target of 261-9.

Oswaldtwistle made a brave effort, but fell just short.

Earby beat Blackburn Northern whose nightmare season continued. Andrew Jaggers took 7-40 as Northern struggled to 109-8 and Earby secured an eight wicket win.
