Minor Counties Wales v Nottinghamshire at Colwyn Bay
Report from The Electronic Telegraph
24, 25 June 1998
Nottinghamshire, who hit 258 for seven in their allotted overs,
secured an 89-run victory over Minor Counties Wales at Colwyn Bay.
Young seamer Chris Tolley and the spin wizardry of Zimbabwe's Test
bowler Paul Strang ended Wales' hopes.
Andrew Jones and Mike Newbold managed a half-century opening stand
before Newbold, on 30, was bowled by Strang. Jones followed him for
25, fooled by Tolley's slower ball. Tolley struck again, dismissing
David Lovell for eight and Notts were soon eyeing a home tie with
Somerset in round two.
