KENT produced an efficient all-round performance to win their second successive AXA League game, and even at this early stage of the season showed that they should again feature prominently in one-day competitions.

Glamorgan, put in by Steve Marsh, were given a good start in a 27-over game by Steve James and Adrian Dale, who ran like hares between the wickets to share 58 in 13 overs before Dale mistimed a drive to short extra cover.

Matthew Maynard made his intentions clear by clubbing Ben Phillips over midwicket for six, but after James was bowled by Carl Hooper, Maynard then holed out at long on.

Marsh permutated his bowling attack, four of whom were in action in the recent one-day series in the Caribbean, with the Matthew Fleming-Mark Ealham combination restricting Glamorgan's progress. The last five wickets tumbled for only seven runs.

In contrast, Trevor Ward tucked into the Glamorgan opening attack, striking a six and three fours from the first three overs though he was dropped off a difficult chance at mid-on off Steve Watkin.

Ward timed the ball beautifully on a slow pitch, but after despatching Watkin for six over midwicket he was caught trying to repeat the stroke from the next ball.

Matthew Walker (62 not out), who was out first ball in the championship game, reached a fluent half-century and although Hooper was leg before to Owen Parkin, the stocky left-hander guided his team to a comfortable win with 20 balls remaining.
