MICHAEL BURNS, with an unbeaten 84 from 87 balls which included two sixes and nine fours, led Somerset to a comfortable victory at Cardiff with 6.4 overs to spare and also inflicted on the county champions their fourth one-day defeat in eight days.
Burns, who scored 95 in the Benson and Hedges Cup game against Surrey last week, shared in two useful partnerships as Somerset adapted far better to a slow, low pitch.
He put on 56 in 10 overs with Peter Bowler and then 68 in 10 overs with Graham Rose (41), whose continued omission from representative one-day squads continues to puzzle most onlookers on the county circuit.
Glamorgan chose to bat first and lost their openers in identical fashion as Robert Croft - who had previously struck five successive one-day fifties - and Steve James prodded balls from Rose to short extra cover.
Adrian Shaw (40) top-scored for Glamorgan but their batsmen were tied down by Somerset's accurate attack, who conceded only six boundaries in the entire innings.
