A HOBBLING Darren Lehmann spearheaded Yorkshire's third competition win after suffering severe back spasms as he raced for the second run that took him to his half-century.

The hard-hitting Australian survived an early run-out call which went to the third umpire and it took a ball from Paul Taylor which ripped out two stumps to dismiss him for 70 off 65 balls.

After a bad start when Michael Vaughan was out in the first over, Lehmann and Anthony McGrath, who also made a half-century, added 110 in 20 overs.

Lehmann's injury was too inflamed for treatment when he returned to the dressing-room, but he was able to watch as Northamptonshire whose slow over-rate meant they had only 38 in which to get the runs lost their way, three wickets going down in the space of four overs for 13.

Northants still had a chance of winning while Mal Loye was at the crease. He scored his third successive Sunday fifty before Craig White had him caught at mid-on. Rob Bailey scored 33 to make him Northants' highest-ever run scorer in the Sunday League, passing Wayne Larkins's 6,068.
