Yorkshire (225-5) bt Glamorgan (188) by 37 runs

YORKSHIRE maintained their challenge at the top of the AXA League with their fourth win in five games against a depleted Glamorgan team in front of a full house at Sophia Gardens. The home side were in contention at 181 for four in the 35th over, but Ryan Sidebottom took four wickets in his final over to return competition-best figures of six for 40.

David Byas, with 71 from 82 balls, anchored the Yorkshire innings, sharing a partnership of 94 with Darren Lehmann (47) then a rapid stand of 79 in nine overs with Anthony McGrath (55 not out), who struck his half-century from only 31 balls.

Glamorgan, without Matthew Maynard, Robert Croft and Steve James, soon lost their openers to Sidebottom, but Michael Powell and Gary Butcher, in partnership with Tony Cottey, revived hopes.

Cottey (78) and Butcher put on 75 in 11 overs but Sidebottom dispelled any hopes Glamorgan had of gaining their first win in the competition as the last six wickets tumbled for only seven runs. Butcher was caught low down by Michael Vaughan at long on and after Waqar Younis was lbw first ball, Dean Cosker and Cottey departed in successive balls.
