DAVID BYAS, opening in the absence of Craig White, made a perfectly-paced unbeaten 79 to keep Yorkshire on the heels of the leaders as they maintained their record of winning every one-day away game this season.

As in their championship debacle on Friday, Durham were mesmerised by Yorkshire's left-handers. Spinners Richard Stemp and Darren Lehmann inflicted decisive damage and the contest looked over after Lehmann and Byas had put on 94. In the end, Yorkshire had only five balls to spare but Byas always looked in control.

Groundsman Tom Flintoft was delighted by a crowd of over 4,000 having chosen this as his benefit match.
