LANCASHIRE have slapped a booze ban on Old Trafford for Saturday's Texaco Trophy international.

They will prevent any alcohol being brought into the ground, except the members enclosure, in an effort to prevent the pitch invasions which have disrupted international matches in Manchester in recent years.

The bars inside the ground will be open all day, but serving only light beer.

Secretary Dave Edmundson said: ``This is the first time we have done this but we are trying to act responsibly as a club.

``We want people to enjoy themselves but for the right reasons. Our research found that much of the misbehaviour at the Test last year was caused by excess drink.''
