India started off cautiously against the pace of McGrath and
Fleming. Ganguly looked woefully out of form taking 13 balls to score his first
run. Ganguly (6) gave a simple catch to Mark Waugh at short cover off Fleming.
Sachin Tendulkar made 35 off just 26 balls with the help of six boundaries and
a six. He took maximum toll of a McGrath over, pulling a six over midwicket
and taking three boundaries. Tendulkar was run out when Laxman refused to go
for the second run, Gilchrist disturbing the castle as Tendulkar was beaten
by a good throw from the backward point fence by Bevan. India were reduced to
52/2 in the tenth over.
