Following the mix-up, the Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly and his team mates asked for a TV replay to ensure that it was Mark Waugh who got out as they were convinced that Mark Waugh had gone past Lehmann. Darren Lehmann in the meanwhile had walked out of the ground and was in the dressing room. The umpires were talked into by the exasparated Indian players to call for the replay, which did not give any conclusive evidence. The third umpire couldn't give the batsman out on the basis of the shadows and with just Mark Waugh in the middle there wasn't much the umpires could do about it.
