Rules & Regulations

  1. Name of the Tournament:
  2. The Police Invitation Shield Cricket Tournament

    Golden Jubilee Year

    The Invitation Shield Cricket Tournament in its 53rd Year will be once again sponsored by Jayantilal Khandwala & Sons Pvt.Ltd, and Khandwala Securities Limited and will be played on a league basis and this year onwards 12 teams will participate.

    The twelve teams will be divided into two groups od six teams each so that each team gets an oppurtunity to play five league games each and top two teams of each group will qualify for the cross out semi-finals.

    All the league matches will be played on one and half day matches and semi finals will be played on a two days duration of two innings if completed or the result will be decided on the first innings and finals will be played on 3 days basis as per MCA model rules.

    The final will be of three days duration.

    All the matches arre to be played as per the new model rules of mumbai cricket association.

    Over rate shall be calculated on 15 overs per hour basis.

    Penalty for slow over rate shall be 8 runs per over bowled short in stipulated time.

    Wide ball-The two feet rule on either side for the wide ball will be applicable in the current year throughout the tournament.

    Umpires will be appointed by the Board of umpires of MCA in case umpires do not turn-up, the clubs shall appoint their own umpires for the start to be made in time. Umpires coming late can officiate only with the permission of both the captains.

    Scoe sheets will be supplied by the police invitation shield cricket tournament and these must be returned within two days of the match duly filed in.

    As you are aware that a prize for the best umpire of the tournament is also announced, we request the secretaries and the captains to give their confidential report on the umpires immediately after the match, in the form provided by the committee in the most fair manner.

    All the match expences must be settled immediatly after the match is over.

    Any complaints in connection with a match shall not be considered unless it is recieved by the Hon secretary of the police invitation shield cricket tournament in writing within two days of the match.

    Clubs participating in the tournament are requested to place at the disposal of the committee their ground and amenities pertaining thereto.

    In all matters of dispute, the decision of the executive committee shall be final and binding.

  3. The Point System:
  4. The points system for the tournament will be as follows

  5. Match abandoned - Nill points
  6. Win on 1st innings - 3 points
  7. Win on 2nd innings (Out right) - 5 point each
  8. 1st innings tie - 1 point each
  9. 2nd innings tie - 2points each
  10. Draw - 1 point each
  11. In case of equal points for the top two positions in the respective group, the team with higher net run rate will qualify for the semi-final.

    Incase the 2nd inning continus the penalty for the slow over rate will be applicable on 15 over per hour basis. The penalty will be 8 runs for over bowled short.

    Saturdays:
    02.15 pm - 03.45 pm1st session
    03.45 pm - 04.05 pmtea time
    04.05 pm - 05.35 pm2nd session
    Sundays:
    10.00 am - 12.30 pm1st session
    12.30 pm -01.15 pmlunch break
    01.15 pm - 03.15 pm2nd session
    03.15 pm - 03.35 pmtea break
    03.35 pm - 05.05 pm3rd session

    (ii) for semi finals & finals

    10.00 am - 12.30 pm1st session
    12.30 pm - 01.15 pmlunch break
    01.15 pm - 03.15 pm2nd session
    03.15 pm -03.35 pmtea break
    03.35 pm -05.05 pm3rd session

    The prize money for the tournament sponsored by Jayantilal Khandwala & Sons pvt. ltd and Khandwala Securities limited is as under

    1. Winners : Rs. 50,000
    2. Runners-Up : Rs. 21,000
    3. 6 best batsman for league : Rs. 6,000
    4. 6 best bowler for league : Rs. 6,000
    5. Man of the final : Rs. 2,000
    6. Best batsman of the final : Rs. 1,500
    7. Best bowler of the final : Rs. 1,500
    8. Best fielder of the final : Rs. 1,500
    9. Player of the tournament : Rs. 2,500
    10. Best batsman of the tournament: Rs. 2,000
    11. Best bowler of the tournament : Rs. 2,000
    12. Best Umpire : Rs. 1,000
    13. Best Scorer : Rs. 1,000
    14. Fasting Scoring over 200 runs : Rs. 2,000
    15. There will be 2 trophies which will be awarded to the winners and runners-up which would be permanently kept by team along with the rotating trophy.

      It is Proposed also to supply balls to the participating teams and balls will be supplied by the committee and the teams will have to play with the balls supplied, and make it a point to return the old balls.

      There could be various other prizes in the finals for the winners and runners-up which will be announced befor the finals.
