(1st Test: India v England at Mohali, 3-7 Dec 2001)
ICC and BCCI resolved the 'match-referee' issue, and the Test between India and England got underway at the Punjab Cricket Association Ground in Mohali. The Indian selectors decided to give a shock treatment to the seasoned pace bowlers and picked three new men instead to do the job. Ganguly won the toss and elected to bowl first on a greenish pitch. Tinu Yohannan, the first Kerala player to represent India, struck twice, removing both the opening batsmen; a feat which he repeated in the England second innings too. The young fast bowler sent Marcus Trescothick's (66) stump flying in the air - truly the champagne moment of the match!
