There were clouds, rain, and difficult weather at Bangalore for the third and final Test. The crowd had assembled en masse in the Chinnaswamy Stadium to watch their favoured son get his 300th Test wicket. The experienced bowler that he is, even Kumble was not above the pressures that the game exerts on the best of players. He kept wheeling away in search of that elusive wicket. Nine England wickets had fallen before Sourav Ganguly passed the ball to Kumble to bowl from the Pavilion end. A loud shout for lbw against Matthew Hoggard, and umpire AV Jayaprakash put his finger up. That was wicket number 300 for Kumble, in his 66th Test, and 19 wickets for the Test series. A stellar performance.
