RULES

RULES FOR TWO DAY MATCHES

Except as modified hereunder, MCC laws (2000 Code) will apply. All matches shall be of one day's duration (50 overs per side).

HOURS OF PLAY:

9.30 a.m to 12 noon First Session
12.00 noon to 1.00 p.m Lunch Break
1.00 p.m to 3.00 p.m Second Session
3.00 p.m to 3.20 p.m Tea Break
3.20 p.m to 4.50 p.m Third Session

Rules
  1. Each innings shall consist of 90 overs of 6 balls each and the match shall be of one innings only.
  2. In an uninterrupted match, the team bowling first shall complete the number of overs on the first day itself hailing which they will bat for the same number of overs. In the event of the first team being all out/declaration within the stipulated time the penalty clause will not be applicable. Otherwise the penalty clause will be applicable for both the innings.
  3. In case of delayed start, or suspension during the innings of the team batting first, the number of overs to be bowled shall be based on the basis of full 4 minutes per over in the time remaining for play on both the days. In such case, a fixed time for completion of the revised number of overs shall be fixed and the innings will terminate at the rescheduled time (the over in progress shall be completed even if a wicket falls). In case the team bowling first fails to bowl the revised number of overs within the stipulated time, they will bat for the same number of overs. If the team is all out/declaration within the stipulated time, the penalty clause will not be applicable. Otherwise the penalty clause will applicable for both the innings.
  4. In case of delayed start/suspension during the innings of the team batting second, there shall be no recalculation of overs and the match shall continue as soon as the conditions are fit for play. If a result could not be achieved, the match shall be treated as a Draw. In such case, the penalty clause for slow overrate shall not be applicable.
  5. If due to weather and ground conditions, play could not take place on the first day, the rules pertaining for one day game as specified by the BCCI shall be applicable. However the rule regarding inner/outer circle shall not be applicable and the target score rule will be as per NORM method.
  6. The teams are entitled to claim the second new ball on completion of 50 overs on matting pitches and 80 overs on turf pitches.
  7. A result can be achieved only if both teams have batted atlas 40 overs, unless one team has been all out in less than 40 overs or unless the team batting second scores enough runs to win in less than 40 overs. In the matches in which both teams have had the opportunity of batting for 90 overs each in an uninterrupted match, or a lesser number of overs in an interrupted match, the team scoring the higher number of runs shall be the winner.
  8. The umpires shall decide whether or not to impose the penalty based on the facts before them.
  9. The penalty for slow over rate will be twice the run rate multiplied by the number of overs bowled short.
  10. The allowances viz. 2 minutes per wicket, 4 minutes for drinks time permitted under BCCI Rules will not be applicable.
  11. The following brands of cricket balls only should be used for all matches in A Division (2 day/1 day game) SONEX, SG TEST, SG TOURNAMENT, WINSUREX or SAMRAT. The cricket balls will be provided by HCA for all clubs for all matches (1 day/2 day game). It is clarified that in the event of the balls being lost or damaged due to wear and tear etc., teams will have to replace balls on their account. The HCA will supply only one ball to each team of all clubs per match.
  12. AWARDS OF POINTS 5 points for win 2 points each for a draw or a tie or the match having been abandoned due to rains or the ground being unfit for play.
  13. If a team gives walk over or concedes a match, it shall lose five points for each such walk over or conceding the match from the total number of points secured by it. The team getting the walk-over or getting the match conceded in its favor shall get 5 points.
  14. Any team either giving two walk overs or twice conceding the match in the season is liable for dis-affiliation. Any dispute arising out of an umpiring decision would be deemed as a refusal to play/continue the match.
  15. Refusal to play before or during the game shall amount to conceding the match.
  16. Any team walking out of the field for any reason would be deemed to have conceded the match.
