Omnicon Hong Kong Saturday League Cricket 6’s 2001

As a curtain-raiser for the 2001-02 Saturday League season, ITCS Corporate Services in conjunction with HKCA, are organising a 6-a-side competition for Hong Kong Saturday League teams. The event is officially sponsored by Omnicon Freight Management Ltd.

The tournament will be played at the Mission Road ground on 1-2 September 2001, with teams competing for trophies and prize money totalling HK$35,000.

  • Cup + HK$15,000
  • Plate + HK$12,500
  • Bowl + HK$7,500

Participants: 2001-02 Saturday League teams

Entry fee: HK$1,500 per team.

Organisers: ITCS Corporate Services in conjunction with HKCA.

Format for Omnicon Saturday League Sixes 2001

Event: Omnicon Hong Kong Saturday League Sixes 2001
Venue: Mission Road
Dates: 1st and 2nd September 2001
Format: 9 teams round robin plus finals day

1. Round robin within each group of three teams named as Nathan Group, Hennessy Group and Castle Peak Group. Top 2 teams from each group enter Cup Round.

2. - Cup Round teams split into 2 groups: OMNICON(O), HKCA(H) by draw.
- Top team from each Groups enters Cup Final.
- Second placed team from each group enters Plate Final.
- Bowl winners determined by Round Robin (W2, D1, L0) with positions determined by run rate (run/balls faced) in event of tie.

2001 Tony Turner Trophy

The best eleven players HKCC and KCC can muster will take on the best of the Independent teams this Sunday 9th September at Mission Road (note change of venue due to the weather) for the Tony Turner Trophy (formerly the Platypus Cup). This is the second time this prestigious match will have been played, with the Independents XI being the current holders of the title following a cracking match last year at KCC. Both teams are packed with talent in what promises to be a great contest as the curtain-raiser for the Sunday League which is due to start next week. The selected teams:

Hancock Shield (HKCC v. KCC) - HKCC, 20-21 April 2002

The bi-annual Hancock Shield match between Hong Kong Cricket Club and Kowloon Cricket was played in fine and warm conditions at HKCC on 20-21 April 2002. The two day match followed a 2 innings-100-overs per side format with the first innings of each team not exceeding 60 overs.

At HKCC (played 20-21.04.2002): HKCC 315-9 ((D Mallinson 45, P Watkins 31, A Smith 47, A Booth 35, A Ashman 69; M Zubair 3-73) and 272-3 (D Mallinson 94*, P Watkins 42, I Hodgson 74) beat KCC 292-8 (M Cheruparambil 45, R Sharma 145*, M Jamshaid 31; A Ashman 3-93, A Smith 3-74) and 292-6 (R Sharma 112, R Sujanani 50, G Jardine 35, M Jamshaid 31) by 3 runs
