NOTE: "FOR THE PURPOSE OF THIS CODE OF CONDUCT AND REGULATIONS,
THE EXPRESSION 'THE PLAYER' SHALL THROUGHOUT BE DEEMED TO MEAN AND INCLUDE
NOT ONLY ANY PLAYER, BUT ALSO ANY MEMBER 'OR'- OFFICIAL OF ANY CLUB/ DCA/
TEAM, OR APPROPRIATE, ANY OTHER PERSON INVOLVED IN ANY INCIDENT OF POSSIBLE
MISCONDUCT, OCCURRING ON AND/ OR OFF THE FIELD OF PLAY OR ON PRECINCTS
OF THE GROUND
01. CODE OF CONDUCT
1.1 By Law it is mandatory that the Captains are responsible at all times
to see that, the full implications of Law (42.1) are properly understood
and upheld by all players, so that the spirit of the game is observed
throughout and the conduct of the game maintained within the Laws, Playing
Conditions and Tournament Rules & Regulations, both on and off the
field of play.
1.2 A Player shall not fail to comply fully at all times, with all Tournament
Rules & Regulations in (PART - A), Playing Conditions & Applicable
Laws of the Game in (PART- B), THE BCCSL Code of Conduct & Regulations
here in (PART - C) and any other such that may come into effect, for any
reason. (See also (14.4) in PART -A).
1.3 A Player shall not at any time, engage in conduct which could bring
him, team or the game into disrepute or detrimental to the spirit of the
game. It shall be a disciplinary offence for a Player in the course of
or in connection with a match/ tournament, to misconduct himself or to
act at any time in a manner calculated to prejudice the good name or interest
of himself, Club/ DCA, Controlling Body and/ or the game in general, either
on or off the field or in the precincts of the ground.
1.4 A Player shall not use crude or abusive language (known as sledging)
nor make offensive gestures/ hand signs.
1.5 A Player must at all times, accept the Umpire's decision. A Player
must not abuse, dispute, show dissent, react in provocative or disapproving
manner, towards an Umpire, his decision or generally following an Umpiring
decision.
1.6 A Player shall not intimidate, assault, attempt to intimidate or
assualt an Umpire, another Player or a Sepctator.
1.7 A Player shall not disclose or comment upon any alleged breach of
the Code or upon any Hearing, report or decision, arising from such breach.
1.8 A Player shall not make any public pronouncement or media comment
which is detrimental either to the game in general, any governing body/
club/ association/ DCA, any particular tournament and/ or its conduct,
any other player or official or with respect to their actions/ decision.
1.9 A Player shall not use or in any way be concerned in the use or distribution
of illegal drugs or illegal narcotics.
1.10 A Player must not engage in public acts of misconduct or unruly
public behaviour, whilst representing his team/ club/ district in any
BCCSL tournaments conducted by the Tournament Committee and /or DCA'S.
1.11 A Player shall not engage directly or indirectly, in betting, gambling
or in any form of financial speculation, on the outcome of any Cricket
Match or Tournament to which this code applies and in which the Player
is a participant or with which he is associated or on any event which,
in the opinion of the Tournament Committee and/ or Disciplinary Committee,
shall be connected with any such cricket match/ tournament the purpose
(or pretended purpose) of which is to benefit such player, either directly
or indirectly, whether financially or otherwise.
1.12 A Player shall not accept any form of inducement which is considered
by the Tournament Committee and /or Disciplinary Committee, to be likely
to affect the performance of any Player involved in any such cricket match
and/ or tournament adversely.
1.13 A Player shall adhere to the ICC Regulations (3A) & (3C) of
1995, with respect to advertising on Cricket Clothing & Equipment
in Tournament Cricket, subject to the term "Country" being replaced
by "Club/ DCA". Where there is conflict of interest with respect
to the logos, the order of priority shall be, Logo of the Sponsors of
the individual player, Logo of the Sponsors of the Club/ DCA followed
by the logo of the Sponsors or that tournament, (if any).
02. REGULATIONS
2.1 It shall be a disciplinary offence, for a Captain and his Club to
fail properly to control or discipline it's players or to act in a manner
calculated to prejudice the good name or interest of himself Club/ DCA,
Controlling Body or the game in general.
2.2 As per Rule (22(g)(ii) of the BCCSL Constitution, the Disciplinary
Committee appointed by the Executive Committee of the BCCSL, shall be
responsible for inquiring into reports made against persons/ clubs that
may be referred to this Committee and making recommendations to the Executive
Committee, after due inquiry, for appropriate action to be taken.
2.3 All disciplinary matters connected with PART - C and/ or otherwise
in any way, shall be dealt with as per (2.2) above, under RULE (30) of
the BCCSL Constitution.
2.4 A Player shall have no right to be represented by any other personnel,
in legal profession or otherwise.
2.5 Inquiries and Disciplinary Actions - See Rule (14) of (PART - A).
Stem action shall be taken, on reports dealing with Law (42. 1) and Law
(42.13) of Cricket.
2.6 The Umpires - are required to make a joint report,- after or during
a match, of any breach of, the Tournament Rules in (PART - A), Playing
Conditions in (PART - B) and/ or BCCSL Code of Conduct & these Regulations
in (PART - C) and/ or as required under the ten-ns of Law (42) of Cricket,
even though the Player's Captain/Team Official, may have taken effective
action. See (Law (42.13) and Rule (I 3.5 (a)of PART - A)
2.7 All reports made by the Umpires under (2.6) above, shall be forwarded
to the Secretary of the Umpires Committee of the BCCSL. Copies should
be forwarded to the Secretary of the Tournament Committee and Secretary
of the BCCSL, to reach them not later than two (02) working days after
the conclusion of the match.
