Sehwag enjoyed feasting on what Ray Price had to offer; in the very first over after resumption of play, Sehwag whipped one to the mid-wicket fence to get to his fifty. The dashing Delhi batsman followed that one with a rousing cover drive for four through the covers.
Ganguly too got in to the act by dispatching a short and wide delivery from Streak to the backward point fence. Sehwag was going great guns, making batting look so easy, smacking cover drives for four off Price and Streak.
Sehwag seemed to have no mental blocks when it came to playing left-arm spin. It was quite interesting to note that Sachin Tendulkar, upon whom Sehwag models himself, struggled to score off Price yesterday. Sehwag has taken nine of his 14 boundaries off Price thus far.
Ganguly reached his hundred off the very last ball before the tea interval, pulling one from Streak to the fine-leg fence. The final session will be of two and a half hours, light permitting, to make up for the lost time.
It was a combination of bad light and rain that played spoilsport in the first session on the third day. Exactly after an hour, the players came off because of bad light, and then an unseasonal shower kept them away for a longer time. After the break, only nine more minutes of play were squeezed in before bad light intervened once again.
In the 17 overs bowled this morning, India added 43 runs, with Sehwag doing bulk of the scoring in boundaries. Sehwag danced down the track and lofted Ray Price to the long off fence for a four and later cracked a cover drive, the sixth four off the bowler.
Heath Streak too suffered at the hands of Sehwag - a powerful cover drive, a firm whip through mid-wicket, and a slashing drive through backward point. In contrast, Ganguly was circumspect and keen on collecting his runs in singles. The Indian skipper did play a short-arm jab to the mid-wicket fence off Watambwa.
In the brief period after the first rain interruption, Sehwag cracked Friend for a four through the off side to move to 47.
