(3rd Test: Colombo, 29 Aug - 2 Sep 2001)
Sri Lanka lost their skipper Jayasuriya (30) and Kumar Sangakkara (47) to Venkatesh Prasad. Marvan Atapattu was in a defiant mood, and kept the scoreboard ticking with some amazing footwork against the spinners. Harbhajan Singh and Sairaj Bahutule were made to look ordinary as he effectively forced them to bowl flat and quick. Atapattu and Mahela Jayawardene added 133 runs for the third wicket and took the Lankan score past 234. The stylish opening batsman got to his seventh Test hundred and made 108 runs off 228 balls, a knock punctuated with eleven boundaries.
