In the past, Indian cricket has traditionally appointed former cricketers as coaches. With this happening, there was a tendency for coaches not to make full use of the experience of other former cricketers. After all, there were bound to be hangovers from relationships in their playing days. It is not uncommon to see one former Indian cricketer having a war of words with another through the press. In Wright's case, this too was eliminated. In all venues that he traveled to, Wright took time to meet former
cricketers and pick their brains. Not all the discussions he had would have been profound. Then again, what harm is there in tapping into a bank of experience?
