Adam Parore played a cameo in the end to take new Zealand to a respectable total of 236/8 in 50 overs. The 50th over bowled by Jayasuriya went for 13 runs, Parore smashing a boundary and then a massive six over square leg. Parore struck two fours and two sixes in making 37 unbeaten runs off just 25 balls. For Sri Lanka, Dharmasena picked up three wickets and was well supported by Arnold (2/22).
