(Colombo 6th ODI - 28 Jul 2001)
Sri Lanka and India met at the Premadasa Stadium for the second time in
the ODI triangular series for the Coca-Cola Cup on Saturday. India had to
win this match to stay in the tournament and have a chance of making it to
the final. The absence of skipper Sourav Ganguly obviously weakened the
Indian team. Sanath Jayasuriya won the toss and elected to bat first on a
good pitch for batting, adding 103 runs for the first wicket in 24.3 overs
with Romesh Kaluwitharana. Jayasuriya made 57 and became Harbhajan Singh's
victim. Kaluwitharana struggled to make 46 before falling to the spin of
Yuvraj Singh.
