(Colombo 7th ODI - 31 Jul 2001)
The One-Day International match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka, played at Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo, got off to a delayed start because of the monsoon rain. The match was reduced to 36 overs a side as players and spectators were made to wait for the start. This was the seventh match in the triangular ODI series for the Coca-Cola Cup and Stephen Fleming did not hesitate to ask Sri Lanka to bat first after winning the toss. The conditions were overcast and the ball was swinging around a bit.
