The West Indies reply did not get off to an auspicious start; Chris Gayle leaving without troubling the scorers. Wavell Hinds, his partner, however, was soon at his aggressive best, clattering the Indian bowlers to all parts of the ground. By the time his ultra-aggressive approach brought about his downfall, Hinds had made 61 off 83 balls with eight fours and a six.
