Bacup made 128 with Peter Thompson hitting 27 and professional Shaun Young 26. Keith Roscoe took 3-11 for Rawtenstall but Bacup skipper Neal Wilkinson took 3-23 as the visitors looked to be on their way to the final until Riley's late flourish.

The match was enjoyed by a good sized crowd that included Dave Orchard, who was Rawtenstall's professional in 1972 and 1973, fresh from umpiring in the 3rd Test at Headingley.
