Who will be this summer’s top performers?
The eyes of the true cricket connoisseur this summer will not be on Japan or Korea, but
on Lord’s, Edgbaston and Old Trafford. Sri Lanka at last have a longer series, and have
the opportunity to showcase their glittering array of talent. Magician in chief Murali
may be injured, but there are still plenty of great players - Sanath Jayasuriya is a
tremendous batsman who also bowls useful left-armers; Chaminda Vaas leads the attack with
unwavering pace and subtle variation; Aravinda de Silva in back for his last hurrah and
will be desperate to make an impact.
For England, it has been a long winter with no obvious reward. But look a little further
and you will see the emergence of a deeper, more resilient squad, with players like
Matthew Hoggard starting to challenge the established opening pair of Gough and Caddick.
And will the absence of James Foster - for the early Tests at least - offer a way back
for Alec Stewart? Will we see the emergence of one of Rod Marsh’s starlets like the much
touted Ian Bell, or quickie Steve Harmison?
Watch out!
If your player is injured or dropped, there’s no way back. Keep an eye on CricInfo for
the latest news so that you don’t end up with players who will be left out of the later
Tests. You can change the team up until the beginning of the Second Test, so by that time
you should hopefully have a good idea of who is going to play throughout the series.
But that’s enough from us. Over to you to make the real decisions.

The Rules are essentially simple.
You pick 12 players - 6 from each side
Pick 5 batsmen, 5 bowlers, 1 all-rounder, 1 wicketkeeper
Two players will be your trumps - and score double points.
The player with the most points at the end of the season wins. The player with the
least points (and we know a lot of you compete for this honour) wins nothing but the contempt of their friends.
