JET AIRWAYS BONANZA FOR HONG KONG SIXES FANS

Hong Kong Cricket SixesHong Kong, October 11, 2010 – Fans will have more reason than one to support their favourite teams at The Karp Group/PC Jeweller Hong Kong Cricket Sixes next month with the tournament’s official carrier Jet Airways offering discount flights to a number of destinations plus rock-bottom bargains if any of four teams won the Cup competition.

India’s second biggest airline will offer bargain deals if India, South Africa or Sri Lanka was to lift the Cup championship at the November 6-7 tournament at the Kowloon Cricket Club. The same holds true if Hong Kong was to win, or even reach the Cup final.

If India wins the Cup, fans can buy a return ticket from Hong Kong to Mumbai or New Delhi for HK$1,666 on economy, while a business class ticket will cost HK$7,666.

If defending champions South Africa retain the Cup, a return economy ticket from Hong Kong to Johannesburg will be HK$2,666 while a business class ticket will be HK$16,666.

If Sri Lanka wins the Cup, a return economy ticket from Hong Kong to Colombo will be HK$1,666, while a business class flight will cost HK$7,666.

If hosts Hong Kong wins or reaches the final, all the above discounts prices will be available for fans who will have to produce a Hong Kong Sixes ticket stub to be eligible to buy into the bonanza.

All ticket holders to the Hong Kong Sixes will also be able to get a discount of HK$666 on all fares from Hong Kong to Mumbai, Delhi, Johannesburg and Colombo – all destinations of Jet Airways – irrespective of whether the India, South Africa, Sri Lanka or Hong Kong won the event.

Eight teams will take part in the US$150,000 tournament. The others are England, Australia, Pakistan and New Zealand.

Bharath Mahadevan, Hong Kong regional manager for Jet Airways said: "we want to get involved with the spirit of the weekend and are doing our bit to promote the Hong Kong Sixes in Hong Kong as well as in India"

The move by Jet Airways to check-in with the popular tournament is a huge shot-in-the-arm for the event as it opens the door to the huge market of cricket-crazy fans in India.

HKCA chairman Dinesh Tandon said : “we are delighted to see support and involvement from Jet airways, our official airlines for the Sixes.  Hopefully this promotion demonstrates commercial value for Jet Airways, HKCA, and last but not the least, the spectators.  A discount of HK$666 would mean that theoretically the spectators now enjoy more than a 90% discount on the Sixes ticket”.

Captain Shahzada Saleem Ahmed said: “we have always believed that the tournament has commercial potential for our official sponsors.  This fantastic offer from Jet Airways, a first for our tournament, is a major first step towards tapping the commercial potential of this tournament".

A two-day adult ticket costs HK$730 while a children’s ticket will cost HK$380. Fans can also buy tickets separately for the Saturday (adult: HK$280 and child HK$180) and Sunday (adult: HK$500 and child HK$220) but this will be subject to availability. Tickets are now on sale at the Hong Kong Cricket Club, the Kowloon Cricket Club and at DotCod restaurant in Central.
