AUSTRALIA v INDIA Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1993
At Perth, December 8. India won by 107 runs. Toss: India. Conditions again favoured seam bowling, and India exploited them to keep Australia pinned to the ropes. The left-arm spinner Shastri seized the last five wickets in 32 balls, but the innings had already been reduced to fragments by the seamers when he came on at 69 for five. Boon and Jones went with just six scored, and Australia's only hint of recovery was the third-wicket stand of 46 between Marsh and Border. Earlier, the Indian batsmen had made uneven progress: Srikkanth's slogging brought him eight fours and 60 invaluable runs off as many balls, while Tendulkar and Amre grafted 46 for the fifth wicket. Kapil Dev batted with discretion to keep India afloat in the closing stages. Man of the Match: K. Srikkanth. Attendance: 12,444. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
