NEW ZEALAND v AUSTRALIA 1992-93
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1994

At Dunedin, March 19. Australia won by 129 runs. Toss: Australia. International debut: J. W. Wilson.

Australia shed the batting strait-jacket that had stifled their recent one-day performances with immediate success. A free-wheeling approach brought nine sixes and 12 fours, 102 out of their total of 258 for four. Mark Waugh enjoyed the opening berth; Taylor supported him in a partnership of 95, then added 104 with Jones, whose 52 came from 56 balls.

Unhappily for the boisterous crowd of 14,414, New Zealand's chase was effectively buried in the fourth over, when Crowe was caught behind to leave them ten for three. To the annoyance of the Australians, umpire King gave Crowe not out, but he prevented a scene by walking. Dodemaide, like Jones newly flown in from Australia, dismissed four of the top six.

Man of the Match: A. I. C. Dodemaide.
