PAKISTAN v WEST INDIES
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1994

At Johannesburg, February 13. West Indies won by eight wickets, their target having been revised to 106 from 27 overs. Toss: Pakistan.

A capacity crowd of 30,000 watched the first international between two visiting teams in South Africa, enticed by the prospect of a contest between two outstanding pace attacks on the fastest, bounciest pitch in the country. The West Indians duly gave the Pakistan batsmen a torrid time, although Shoaib Mohammad, with his curious closed stance, hit eight boundaries in an uncharacteristically rapid 49 from 67 balls. Despite the loss of Simmons and Lara to successive balls from Waqar Younis, Haynes and Hooper batted aggressively to take West Indies to victory. Rain interrupted their innings at 73 for two from 18 overs, but it took little longer to reach a revised target of 106.

Man of the Match: D. L. Haynes.
