PAKISTAN v WEST INDIES
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1994

At Durban, February 19. West Indies won by 124 runs. Toss: Pakistan.

For the first time in the series spectators were treated to a sustained display of commanding batsmanship. The left-hander Lara made his maiden limited-overs international century in glorious style, showing a consummate command of length as he flayed the Pakistan bowlers with a succession of crisp strokes off either foot. His 128 came off 126 balls, with 20 boundaries. He received splendid support from his fellow-Trinidadian Simmons in a second-wicket partnership of 197. Needing more than five an over, Pakistan were never in contention. For the second time in successive matches between the two teams Bishop took four wickets in an innings, as the last eight batsmen went for 49 runs.

Man of the Match: B. C. Lara.
