PAKISTAN v WEST INDIES
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1994

At Johannesburg, February 27. West Indies won by five wickets. Toss: West Indies.

For the fourth time in as many matches in South Africa, West Indies outplayed the reigning World Cup champions. The result continued their ascendancy over Pakistan established in Australia, where they won the last three of their four meetings on their way to winning the World Series Cup. Despite a fine innings by the left-hander Aamir Sohail, Pakistan were unable to recover from the loss of their first five wickets while the total stuttered from 46 to 87.

West Indies made another good start, with Haynes and Lara putting on 112 for the first wicket. A comfortable victory, with more than ten overs to spare, was sealed by some dazzling strokeplay from Logie. Lara, who had scored 341 runs at an average of 68.20, was named the outstanding player of the series: Haynes became the first batsman to score 8,000 runs in limited-overs internationals.
