SRI LANKA v SOUTH AFRICA 1993-94
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1995

At Khettarama Stadium, Colombo, September 2 (day/night). South Africa won by 124 runs. Toss: South Africa.

History favoured the team batting first in floodlit matches at Khettarama, and South Africa duly recorded their biggest victory by runs in limited-overs internationals. Sri Lanka collapsed as the humidity and early evening dew enabled the pace attack to swing the white balls and extract sideways movement from the pitch. Sixteen wides in a total of 98 were an indication of the extent of that swing rather than an indictment of the bowlers' accuracy.

Earlier, South Africa had batted solidly without fully mastering the bowling. McMillan scored a rapid 35 and the tailenders Symcox and Snell hit judiciously as 43 runs came off the last five overs. McMillan followed up with three cheap wickets as well as three slip catches.

Man of the Match: B. M. McMillan.
