SRI LANKA v WEST INDIES 1993-94
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1995

At P. Saravanamuttu Stadium, Colombo, December 1. No result. Toss: West Indies.

The ravages of overnight rain trimmed the game to 39 overs a side and dark clouds, which heralded another furious thunderstorm, brought about a premature finish. An indiscreet bouncer from Kenny Benjamin induced the umpires to offer the beleaguered Sri Lankan batsmen the light; they readily accepted, having been kept down to 16 runs in the first ten overs by the accuracy of Ambrose and Walsh, while losing the wicket of De Silva. Jayasuriya had been forced to retire with cramp. West Indies also found runs hard to get on a slow pitch. Lara was the exception: his drives and clips off the legs raced to the boundary despite an extremely heavy outfield; he hit eight fours in 118 balls.
