NEW ZEALAND v PAKISTAN 1993-94
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1995

At Dunedin, March 3. Pakistan won by five wickets. Toss: New Zealand.

Rutherford misjudged his home city's weather when he chose to bat, believing it would not rain. After New Zealand had reached a useful 32 for one in 9.2 overs, a long interruption meant the match was reduced to 30 overs. Under pressure to score quick runs, numerous batsmen then committed suicide; the innings staggered to 122 for nine without anyone passing 20. Though the seamers gave their side some chance by breaking through early – Pakistan were 35 for four – they could not remove Saeed Anwar, who was far and away the best batsman on the day. Rashid Latif joined in with three sixes near the end.

Man of the Match: Saeed Anwar.
