NEW ZEALAND v INDIA 1993-94
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1995

At Christchurch, April 2. New Zealand won by six wickets. Toss: India. International debut: B. K. V. Prasad.

New Zealand levelled the series with a ball to spare, thanks to another stand between Thomson and Parore. This time they added 88 for the fifth wicket. At 135 for four from 35 overs, New Zealand were well behind the asking-rate until Thomson scored 40 in 43 balls and Parore 47 in 46.

In contrast, India started by raising 50 in eight overs and Jadeja went on to reach 68, but the middle order failed to force the pace. It was left to Mongia and Kumble to take the total past 200. The match was marred by the only trouble to disrupt the Indian tour. Several spectators, evidently drunk, invaded the pitch and uprooted the stumps during New Zealand's innings. Police made 39 arrests for disorderly behaviour.

Man of the Match: A. C. Parore.
