INDIA v WEST INDIES 1994-95
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1996

At Cuttack, November 9. India won by eight wickets. Toss: West Indies.

Though India had won limited-overs championships in which West Indies were one of several competing teams, they had never beaten them in a one-to-one contest before. This win gave them a 3–1 lead with one to play; it came with only four balls to spare but it had seemed inevitable after Jadeja and Tendulkar opened the innings with 176 in little more than 35 overs. Jadeja scored his maiden international century, 104 from 126 balls, and later Kambli kept India up with the asking-rate through an undefeated 40 from 35 balls. For West Indies, Lara made 89 from 106 balls, his highest score yet on Indian soil, but a total of 251 appeared inadequate on a slow pitch.

Man of the Match: A. D. Jadeja.
