WEST INDIES v AUSTRALIA 1994-95 Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1996
At Bridgetown, March 8. West Indies won by six runs. Toss: West Indies. International debut: V. C. Drakes. Hooper's first act in a five-part tour de force was a run-a-ball 84. He was the well-oiled piston that pumped West Indies to 257, while Australia, despite runs from all the top six, were always a step or two behind. Returning after a bout of malaria, Hooper launched a vicious assault on Warne, designed to destabilise him before the Tests. Lara was beaten four times outside off stump by Reiffel, but added 68 in 69 balls with Hooper after Steve Waugh threw down Richardson's stumps from short fine leg. Richardson missed the next four games with an injured shoulder. Boon anchored Australia with 85 not out off 83 balls, but West Indies kept him out of strike for all but three deliveries of the final two overs. Man of the Match: C. L. Hooper. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
