WEST INDIES v AUSTRALIA 1994-95 Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1996
At Port-of-Spain, March 12. West Indies won by 133 runs. Toss: West Indies. Lara's first century for West Indies in his native Trinidad revived the carnival which had finished two weeks earlier. His cover drives were breathtaking and he cut and pulled balls just short of a length in masterful fashion. He slashed 139 off 125 balls, with 15 fours and a six. West Indies had been pegged to 26 for two before he and Hooper put on 99 and then Adams joined the picnic, adding 135 in 19 overs with Lara. Challenged to score 283, Australia folded inside 35 overs. Simmons netted four for 18 with his unpretentious medium-pace. Australian spirits had already sagged to bootlace level when Fleming damaged a joint in his right shoulder after a high-class spell; it was to end his tour. Man of the Match: B. C. Lara. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
