PAKISTAN v SOUTH AFRICA
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1996

At National Stadium, Karachi, October 16. Pakistan won by eight wickets. Toss: South Africa. International debut: D. N. Crookes.

Another dismal South African batting performance – a meagre 163 for nine – left Pakistan with the easiest of tasks, which they accomplished with five overs in hand. But third umpire Atiq Khan shared the South Africans' embarrassment. Asked to rule on whether Richardson had been run out, he thought he had pressed the green button, signifying not out, only for the red light to signal his dismissal. Inzamam-ul-Haq scored his second successive half-century and added a match-winning 115 with captain Salim Malik, who also took three catches.

Man of the Match: Salim Malik.
