INDIA v NEW ZEALAND
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1996

At Delhi, November 3. India won by 107 runs. Toss: India. International debut: D. J. Murray.

After the chastening experience of Kanpur, the Indian batsmen were back in striking form, falling only ten short of their highest-ever limited-overs score, 299 against Sri Lanka in 1986–87. Jadeja, promoted to open in place of Prabhakar, and Tendulkar needed only 80 minutes to raise 100, while Azharuddin and Kambli rounded the innings off with 67 in 46 balls. Once reduced to 27 for three, New Zealand were hardly in the running. But there were flashes of brilliance from Fleming, who hit 56 off 48 balls; he and Parore took 23 runs off Chetan Sharma's only over and added 79 together before Tendulkar scotched their last hopes with two wickets.

Man of the Match: S. R. Tendulkar.
