SOUTH AFRICA v PAKISTAN Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1996
At Johannesburg, December 10. South Africa won by seven wickets. Toss: Pakistan. South Africa bowled impressively to restrict the opposition to 214 on an easy-paced pitch, despite a fluent 73 from Ijaz Ahmed, who had taken 110 and 98 not out off their attack in Pakistan in October. But only Inzamam-ul-Haq offered much support and once he was stumped, at 165, one batsman after another found ways to get out: the last seven wickets fell for 49 in ten overs. South Africa lost Kirsten early, but Hudson and Cronje added 145 for the second wicket, falling only when victory was well in sight. Man of the Match: W. J. Cronje. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
