England Under-23 may call off tour to Australia

29 November 1996

The England Under-23 squad could be forced to call off their tour of Australia in the New Year because Australia's governing body have been unable to raise the A$50,000 (#25,000) needed to fund it.

England's team are likely to include several players already capped at senior level, namely Kathryn Leng, Suzie Redfern and Charlotte Edwards, and would have been ideal experience prior to next winter's World Cup in India.
