Convenor of the national selection committee Peter Pollock said the entire 14-man squad, which returned to Johannesburg from Kenya late Monday evening, would travel to India for the triangular series featuring the hosts, Australia and South Africa, scheduled to begin on October 17. The team will leave for India on October 13, and play its first engagement, against hosts India, on October 17 at Hyderabad.
Pollock however added that the lineup could be changed for the three three-day games, and the three-Test series against India, to follow after the triangular one-day series which ends on November 7. For the latter part of the tour, the likes of Shaun Pollock, now out with an ankle injury, Jacques Kallis (back strain), Craig Matthews (tendon strain) and Paul Adams (groin strain) could be considered, once they were certified as fully recovered.
For now, the squad for the triangular series in India reads: Hansie Cronje (captain), Gary Kirsten (vice-captain), Andrew Hudson, Daryll Cullinan, Jonty Rhodes, Brian McMillan, Derek Crookes, Dave Richardson, Lance Klusener, Pat Symcox, Fanie de Villiers, Allan Donald, Herschelle Gibbs, Nicky Boje.
